My Unwanted Mate 21

MY UNWANTED MATE📒❤

    Chapter 21

   • Umbrie's POV •

Dad let Jared and I leave while mom gave us a curfew. He wouldn't tell me where he was taking me but I didn't let it bother me so much.

It was a short ride and I recognized the place to be the old witches home.

I glanced at Jared wondering what exactly we were doing here.

"You wanted me to accompany you while you see the witch?" I questioned as his mean face didn't shift.

"Shut up and just follow me." He glowered before stepping out of the car.

I removed the seatbelt and went after him.

There was no other car around in the driveway except the witches old blue Volvo.

He knocked on the door as if he had an appointment with her.

My brother is a piece of work.

The door opened few seconds later and there she was. The strong woman that just makes things happen around here.

She had a bright smile as she welcomed us into her home.

I entered first leaving Jared behind. My gaze immediately shifted to someone sitting at the chair next to a piano. His back was so familiar that I couldn't stop gazing at him.

He slowly turned around and it dawned on me when it turned out to be Keiran sitting on the seat.

My brows furrowed in confusion.

Why's he here?

"Umbrie, Keiran is here because he wants to break the bond between the both of you. So, let's get started and end this quick before the curfew." Jared spoke as though he read my mind and knew the questions in it.

"Hold on. You want to break the bond?" I asked, my voice wavering slightly.

Keiran nodded and got up from his chair.

The witch brushed past us not minding the uneven atmosphere around her.

Since when do they get to decide?

"What's your reason?" I asked getting up as well.

"I have nothing to explain. You and I both know this is what's best for us to do." Keiran replied and I scoffed.

I wasn't expecting him to just sit and talk about it but I don't think I want to do this. Not right now.

"Forget it. I'm not doing this." I said in attempt to leave but Jared stopped me.

He looked at me with ten times the rage he had before.

"I don't care if I'll have to press a knife in your to get you to pull through with this ritual, I will do it. Stop thinking with your emotions and think with your head! Nobody wants you to be together with this heartless beast. Don't you see it? Mom and dad doesn't want him around and so does everyone in the pack too. He's too bad for you. The faster you understand this, the better it is for everyone. Even if it hurts in the end, it won't kill you." Jared hurled furiously at me.

The red veins in his eyeballs were more visible and it made him look monstrous.

"It's my relationship, isn't it? He's my mate not yours, not the pack's. Let me deal with him and suffer for it alone. You guys don't have to worry about me—"

"Umbrie, stop saying nonsense. I actually want this. I'm here because it's something I want not because of anyone else. I'd like for you to just grant me the damn freedom. I'm just trying to fix my mistakes." Keiran interpolated my speech and my nostrils flared at the sight of him.

"But it's not something I want." I mumbled swallowing back the tears threatening to fall.

I can win this. I can overcome this fight.

It was a mantra that went on in my head. It's just us against the world now.

"So, is this ritual happening or not?" The witch asked returning with a tray containing probably what she'd use to ruin my life.

"Not happening." I bluntly replied before rushing out of the house. I was making progress escaping this when I felt Keiran stand in front of me in one swift move.

"What the heck do you think you're doing? Stop being delusional and just accept the rejection!" He yelled plausibly.

"You are rejecting me?" I asked with shaky breath.

"Yes....I mean... No." He paused and sighed.

"You are making this difficult. I'm going to hurt you emotionally, don't you get that?" He asked furiously.

My lips trembled as I sort for what to say.

"There are ups and downs in relationships. Why must this cause you to just leave me. I don't think I can bear it Keiran. I might not mean anything to you but don't do this."

"Why?"

And that's when I took sloppy seconds thinking about it.

"Because we can make this work out. Trust me." I said completely sure of myself.

"Why do you want to make this work out, Umbrie? I don't think I can show anyone any affection right now."

"I don't care. Maybe I don't want your affection right now." I snapped back and his lips was left hanging for a second.

"Your brother is going to kill me." He huffed as I held his hand.

"You are tough to kill, don't you think? If not, we could have found a skeleton inside that vault in the basement." I stated dragging him along with me towards the sidewalk.

"Did you walk all the way here?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Taxi."

I nodded.

"I think you should go home with your brother. Your mom is going to be worried if he goes home without you." He jibed.

"I can't with them right now." I drawled.

He slowly let go off my hand and inserted it in his pocket.

"What the heck are you doing?" I asked as I took his hand again and held it tighter.

I squeezed it the hardest way I could and instead of wincing, he laughed.

"That tickles." He remarked.

"Why were you hugging, Sherry?" I asked the moment I remembered it. She once told me how obsessed she is with Keiran. Obvious red flag.

"She got kicked out of press club and she was emotional because she felt humiliated."

"I guess I'll have to cut her some slacks." I thought out loud and he chuckled.

After walking in silence for a long time, my phone started ringing and it was a call from Jared. I switched it off before putting it deep into the pocket in my coat.

I had so many things to talk to Keiran about but I didn't go through with it. I just let the silence go deeper until I could hear nothing at all.

    • Keiran's POV •

Umbrie and I literally walked to her house together and she held my hand the entire time. I couldn't understand the reason. It was as like she didn't want to leave anymore.

It made me remember how I held my mother so tightly so she wouldn't leave for work and wouldn't be back for days. I was barely seven then.

I really thought things would change when I got older but it never did. Nothing with them has changed. They're still so selfish and neglectful.

I let her hold me anyway. I let our hands clutch onto each other through out the whole time.

She wanted me to come over but I declined. I had homeworks to submit to my tutor which are left bare in my laptop.

I continued walking but later took a taxi so I'd be home early. Umbrie's words at the witches place echoed around me and I hated myself for deciding that too soon. She looked so heart broken but did her best not to show it.

Jared might have me dead soon but there's nothing I can do. It's up to Umbrie to make a choice and she chose me.

For now though, I still have a feeling she'd hate me more and want to end it.

I got home and grabbed my laptop, quickly sending the homeworks to her.

She replied with a kiss emoji and I tossed the laptop aside.

All I could think about was Umbrie.

Her scent, voice, face, laugh....

It hovered all around me.

I found it strange since it has never happened to me before and when I woke up the next morning, I've never been so hard in my life.

Luckily, it's Saturday.
