    Chapter 20

Wednesday ~

     • Umbrie's POV •

Something strange happened today at school. It wasn't just one event anyway but I couldn't stop going over the ones that happened and hit me the most.

First off, it was during lunch and I just had this seal to tell Daphne everything.

Literally.

There was an unending urge to open up about what I was and what was bothering me. It was the first time that was happening and so it overwhelmed me on how disintegrated I got at that point. It was such a vulnerable moment and I just had to keep stuffing my face with banana so I don't say a peep about anything that can contradict me and the other pack members.

I'm starting to wonder how Jared got past highschool in one whole without falling into pieces with various temptations and emotions. He should really share some secrets with me.

Another thing that had me bumped was the fact that I actually passed the first audition for a drama role out school would be presenting in two months from now. I was the female lead in a sappy romance story of  Eleanor and Sebastian.

I would be playing Eleanor while Terry - a guy from another class got the role of Sebastian.

He seems to be a very good actor unlike me whom tried to put up the right face while executing my lines. It was hard, believe me.

Luckily, our drama teacher was a sassy cold and strict man whom was really good at kicking someone under the curve.

I wanted to show him that I can actually do it so I did everything I could to perfect the scene and everyone seemed to like it.

Terry and I barely talked and I don't know what he's like but Daphne assured me that he wasn't going to be a problem. I was quite relieved that the highest physical contact I'd be having the play was a hug with Terry in just three scenes.

Not bad, right?

"This is going to be the best play ever!" Daphne squealed while going through the script our drama teacher handed to me.

"Well...the dialogues aren't cringeworthy. That's a relief. I finally have something to put my mind to apart from studying." I drawled while leaving the empty classes. School was over and a lot of people where rushing home as if the building was on fire.

"I'm really happy Mr Primrose allowed me to be his assistant because he is the director of the play. He's in charge of everything and doesn't want someone else making suggestions."

"I'm happy for you. That man is just too mean. I'm even surprised he considered giving me the role because he has never looked at me with soft eyes." I pointed out.

"Yeah, it's more like a miracle." She chuckled.

Her phone buzzed and she immediately looked at it. "Geez, I gotta go Umbrie. I'll text you later. Get home safe."

She gave me the script and we half hugged before she ran off. I realized her scent was all over me now. Her precious natural human scent — that's if there's anything like it.

I patiently put the file in my school bag before hanging it across my shoulders again. I walked to the window and looked outside. Keiran's car was still packed at the compound and there was just few people remaining in school.

I continued walking down the hall when I spotted one of the youngest teachers entering a classroom. I wondered what she was still doing in classes before having the hunch she was tutoring someone.

I tip toed to the door to see who it was. I slowly looked in and saw Keiran sitting on the third row and the teacher was setting out her books.

That explains it.

He really needs the extra lessons because he has missed a lot.

I was curious if he could sense me since I could smell him too. He didn't look my way. It was like he wasn't noticing me or probably, he's pretending.

"According to the curriculum and where your notes stopped, you haven't learned about Chromosomes, is that right?" Asked the teacher as she flipped her book.

I was waiting to hear Keiran's voice but it never came. Instead, he wordlessly nodded his head at her. After observing for a little time, I run out of the hallway when I heard sound of the top head teacher talking from the staircase. It wouldn't be a nice experience if he caught me snooping around after school.

I went home happy that Keiran was really learning to cover up for what he has missed.

Thursday was going by smoothly since it was the first rehearsal for our play. I get to meet Hailey whom happens to hate me dearly for taking the lead role. I didn't see her yesterday because she had auditioned before for the role.

It never occurred to me that it would be like a highschool story where I have to have an annoying twelfth grader hating on me for being the lead.

She was the supporting female lead though whom has to be my best friend in the play and she would also have feelings for 'Sebastian'.

I got to exchange words with Terry more and I couldn't describe him just yet. He wasn't so easygoing and sometimes, he looks at me like I'm saying nonsense which is not part of the script. I didn't tell Daphne so he won't look so manipulative because he really wasn't intimidating me. I guess that's the way his face works.

Everything was going well, I guessed.

Though Keiran and I haven't spoken to each other but I was just happy seeing him learn.

It was a stupid feeling. I was starting to feel like a proud mother or something. I didn't want to distract him either. Maybe this weekend, we can finally talk and hang out together.

   Friday ~

There was no rehearsals but being in school was still worth it. I got a ride home from Alpha Damien which was one of the coolest thing ever.

Anyways, we talked about his cousin and he said his parents were on a trip and he has been alone for a few days now.

Yikes, I had no idea.

The ride wasn't awkward to say the least and I got home just in time to start working on my homework. Immediately i was done, Jared came home with my parents and Sky.

It was funny watching them stepping into the house together. Something no one sees everyday.

"Hey, Umbrie. I want to talk to you." Jared said leaving for the stairs and I quickly followed him.

"What's up?"

"There's somewhere I want us to go to." He replied and I arched my brows.

"The pack house?"

"No, just somewhere. Go put on a jacket. It's cold outside."
